As a design exercise, I was given a prompt to make a user dashboard that would show statistics for the neighborhood leaders. Most styling was pulled from Nextdoor's existing style guide. All layout and positioning was created from scratch.
Some basic principles I like to have when designing dashboards are that you should always have an easy pulse-check indicator at the top. This is a quick 1-second glance to tell you the overall story. These kinds of things include progress bars, if there is a goal. The "total" of the most important unit that the audience will care about. In this case, Nextdoor is all about their community, so decided put engagement statistics at the top.
